The duo were true to their word and released STORE, source code and all to the general public for free. Within hours the app was downloaded tens of millions of times. The news of the leaked software going viral as its usage numbers spiked and it became heralded as the greatest advancement in technology since the computer mouse.
But Ted and Preston had not fared well. They had been discovered as the leakers without much effort from their employers. Neither really seemed to care however, they had got what they wanted, payback.
“Edwards Phelps and Preston Isaacs, who are currently in custody, will now await their trial, which is scheduled for six weeks from todays, April 28th date.” The male news reporter with dark hair that matches his equally dark suit says while looking into the camera with a serious expression.
“In related news, Albion Industries have had to contend with a frenzy of questions being directed there way due to the recent leak of STORE by Mr Phelps and Isaacs. Especially as some of the corporations largest contracts revolve around the security, server provisioning and data backup for clients that operate within banking, healthcare and governmental sectors.” The co-anchor, a woman in a blue suit, says beginning to run through the next story.
“That is why the mammoth corporations stocks have more than halved in value since the leak.” The female co-anchor with short brown hair says before adding, “That the sudden and drastic drop in value has led to the company announcing that it will undergo immediate and comprehensive restructuring. Restructuring that will result in the loss of at least thirty nine thousand world jobs worldwide.”
