Emma

Emma was always the brightest star.
Told as a child by everyone she could go real far.
Dreams boiled inside her head with all the things that those words meant.
From dawn ’til dusk she worked as hard as she could.
Even sickness didn’t slow her lust to achieve.
But sadly her shine didn’t have the chance to alight.
Instead reality decided it would crush it one night.
Bent over an oil drum; terror left to replace her joy.
That day her dreams became a distant memory.
And ever since she’s remained locked inside.
Thirst for safety has replaced her old lust for life.
Some might call it a sad tale.
I’d call that a gross understatement.
A horrific truth that should not be.
No pride should be taken from the destruction of somebody.
For all have and should be provided the opportunity to burn bright.
