Take A Chance

Bell calls me to the foreground.
Playing tunes that strike at my soul.
Chords plucked as if I can go into my past.
What resonates will never crash.
As chimes cut in to join the foley.
Echoes from days that seemed melancholy.
Striking back as if I’m still right there.
Forming out of this old half repair.
Calling to action what once seemed pointless.
Maybe once or twice it was a little fruitless.
Yet if you do not try then you can’t succeed.
Rejection lives so you can thrive eventually.
Without pause or sense to grow that which can be loved you’ll never know.

Sound the horns and welcome a season change.
Weather these storms or back away and risk you’ll fade.
Cause life can’t be lived without a little danger.
Might not get all you want but at least you’ll have an attempt here.
Instead of being sat inside a cage.
Fashioned from that which could not be saved.
Smashed upon some altar stone.
Trapped in a place that’s but a facsimile of your home.
Poor reproduction of what you crave.
Diluted by a cavern of blades.
Teetering on a knife’s crooked edge.
Begging you for payment that can’t be read.
All to please someone who couldn’t care if you ascend or become a crater.
