Happy New Year! 2021 is here and I hope everyone had a great Holiday season. I don’t usually put introductions before poetry posts, but seeing as it’s New Year’s Day I thought it only right. First I’ll start with some news and that is that there will continue to be daily posts (4 poems and 1 story) every week for as long as I have material. At the moment that’s quite a while because I’ve been writing a lot. However, I also want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who viewed or liked anything I posted in 2020. It means a huge amount to me. So I wish you all a fantastic 2021 and think it’s time we get started on the first post, of many, for this new year.
Stoke the fires
Forget all the liars
They will just pretend…
That their lies have no end
As the day dawns
You will carry on
Sure of your craft
While they try and laugh
But they are the fools
Breaking all the rules
Soon to be in chains
Then they will feel shame
As you sharpen your brain
They will be without grain
So when the winters come
They will have nothing
Struggle to survive
Maybe, they should have opened their eyes
