Social Disease

Sip from the poisoned chalice.
Before succumbing there is malice.
Swimming in an ocean of lashing out.
Each new remark aimed at increasing clout.
Chasing fads firmly set in the red.
Sowing pain alongside inflicting hatred.
No care for collateral sustained along the way.
Wider the spread the more content you are with extolling each day.
For quotas are only the tip of these icebergs.
And setting a bar so low is a waste of your bile.
So you amp up misery as if there is no limit to this dial.

This is a social disease.
Smile at an outpouring of sleaze.
Enraptured by whatever is cast.
Death is worth it to be feared until the last.

Spike the punch before its handed around.
Entertained as innocents writhe of the ground.
For air is a luxury you’ve decided to deny.
But try as they might these victims cannot manage to cry.
Suffering to add another few pips on your scoreboard.
Emotionless for all this suffering that’s being caused.
Viewing others as pawns for you to destroy.
Everyone else is nought but a cheap toy.
Sadist to your very core.
Use them up and cast them into a pile.
You are the epitome of the word vile.

We are a social disease.
Smile at our outpouring of sleaze.
Enraptured by whatever we cast.
Death is worth it to be feared until the last.
